8 Phrases You MUST Stop Saying To Yourself If You Want To Be Successful

In life we strive to achieve a lot in order to be successful but sometimes you find that we fail, not because of doing the wrong things rather it’s doing the right things with the wrong attitude and telling ourselves the wrong things that do not motivate us.

The thing about words is that they have their own strength and once you keep  repeating negative phrases to yourself the effect finally kicks in and takes you further from success.

Here are 8 things that you should avoid telling yourself if you want to be successful.

1.That’s impossible.
Moses Makhoha has been planning on starting a business for the last two years but every time he thinks about it he puts the idea away and says that it’s impossible with his amount of income.

There is nothing that is impossible. You can actually do anything you put your mind into if you have  enough determination and effort. Sometimes, it just takes a new perspective.

But saying that something is impossible when it’s possible is just limiting your own potential for success.

2. That won’t happen for me.
You might find a job which  are qualified for but at the end of the day you end up not applying for the opportunity because you fear competition but only unsuccessful people say this, because it’s a phrase that reduces your will, dreams and goals.

4. So and so is so ahead of me in life
Caroline Kioko was not lucky in getting a job as soon as she cleared college. She feels as if life let her down and it doesn’t help either that her  friends have invested so much as compared to her.

Instead of Ms Kioko feeling bad about her situation she should use her friend’s success stories to inspire herself.

5. I have a problem with that.
You will find that when something you did not expect to happen in the course of your journey does really happen, you will despair and give up hope and feel that you have a problem with the situation which makes you think you cannot go on with the journey

Bottom line is, we need to be flexible, getting angry when things don’t go exactly to plan just drains us.

6. No one has a better idea than me
When one approaches life with this kind of attitude you tend to lose a lot as you don’t keep yourself open to other people’s ideas.

Martin Mariti is an IT professional and his workmates are completely tired of his rude way of shutting them down, whenever they have a brainstorming meeting he completely shuts their ideas and wants only his ideas to be put to work. It’s good to consider other people’s ideas as someone might have something important to add, be an open minded person.

7. I already know that.
Listening to peoples input whether it on something you have already heard is important.

“I used to snap at my colleagues whenever they informed about something I already had information on,” says Belinda Mwangi.

“Nowadays I just say yes, thank you,” Belinda says.

8. I can’t.
The attitude of assuming that you cannot do something is very damaging; it makes you lose all the possibilities of accomplishing anything in life.

Instead embrace the ‘yes you can’ attitude as it give you hope to achieve your goals.

Life may seem busy, but successful people know that it’s necessary to allow yourself time to wind down with an activity that has nothing to do with your goals.

If you did some of these things it’s time you changed for success.
