Psychometric Testing in Job Interviews: Find Out Your Personality Here

Companies are who they hire and who they don’t fire’ therefore, the hiring decision is very important. Recruiting the wrong person can be a very expensive mistake! Conversely, recruiting the right person can transform an organisation for the better.

Employers are now using psychometric testing to vet potential employees and help them understand a little more about your personality and ability to fit into the role they are offering. The tests can make the recruitment process fairer to the employer and the applicant. They minimise recruitment bias on the basis of gender, race and disability and may also allow the interview to be tailored for the individual.

Psychometric test types include aptitude test (numerical & verbal reasoning) and personality tests which measure your attitude, motivation and work style. In job interviews, the tests can be a more reliable indicator of some personal characteristics, such as team-working skills, reasoning ability and personal empathy that are difficult to assess at interview.

Tips For Passing Psychometric Tests
1. Practice so that you’re not distracted by the style or formatting of questions

2. Read the instructions carefully

3. The test may have some practice questions at the start. Make sure you understand these thoroughly before the test itself begins and, if you do not, ask the administrator to explain them.

4. Work through briskly and accurately

5. Answer honestly

6. Don’t waste time checking each answer thoroughly until you are absolutely convinced it is right.

7. If you are not sure of an answer, put down your best guess and move on.
8. Don’t try to wild guessing, especially if marks are taken off for wrong answers.
