2. Draft your resignation letter
After you have talked to your boss about your plan to resign, you can then go ahead and write the resignation letter.
Remember to keep your letter short and to not say anything negative about the organisation.
You are not obligated to go into detail as to why you are resigning or what your future plans are.

I am writing to announce my resignation as a Communications Officer at XYZ Limited because of personal reasons.
This was not an easy decision to make but as you know, I recently had a child and would prefer to stay home. The last five years have been very rewarding. I have enjoyed working for you and managing a very successful team dedicated to creativity and great service provision.
Thank you for all the opportunities you have provided me.
My last working day will be 28/03/2017 (this may vary depending on the company policy and contract you had signed). I will ensure I wrap up all my duties and train my replacement during this time. Please let me know if there’s anything else I can do to aid during this transition.
