5 Things Successful People Do On Weekends

So the weekend is here and I know that you are looking forward to kicking it back and enjoying with friends catching up on the latest movie. You have been working all week and need to relax before Monday comes. You may have spent your week hopping from one office seeking for employment. It’s only natural that you want to have your own time.

Weekend is the time we look forward to so that we can enjoy all the aspects of life we may have missed while buried in the hustles of the week. As you kick back, there is a need to focus on things that add value to your life.

Do you want to be successful or another statistic in future that wasted all their time and is now paying for it or do you want to be the one inspiring future generations. Ask anyone who is successful in life and they will tell that time is too precious a commodity to waste.

Pour yourself a cup of coffee and let’s explore some of the things you should be doing this weekend that will definitely guarantee you success in future.

Here are some of the things successful people do on weekends

1. Pursue your passion

Most of us end up in careers that have nothing to do with our passions. This doesn’t mean that you abandon your passion all together. The weekend should be your time to explore your passion. If you are into cooking like me, take the weekend to prepare delicious meals and even come up with recipes and enjoy with your friends. Your life doesn’t not only revolve around your job.

2. Attend functions in your industry

So many seminars and functions happened on the weekend. Find one that is in line with your industry and get to learn a thing or two. They say knowledge is power and it wouldn’t hurt to gain a little bit more. And then later you can now catch up with friend for a night out.

3. Network

The weekend is a great opportunity to build your pool of networks. You should make networking your lifestyle. Go places, attend event and get to meet new people. This is the time to catch up with old contacts you haven’t seen in a long time or that former co worker who now holds a managerial position at a certain company. I ensure that you have connected with at least one person in a weekend and that, way are able to build my networks.

4. Volunteer

I know of a senior accountant who volunteers as a counselor for cancer patients and their care givers during the weekend. Volunteering helps you balance off your life, such that your life doesn’t just revolve around work not to mention it’s a plus on your CV when you indicate that you do volunteer work.

5. Make plans

Weekend is a great time to make plans for the week ahead such that when Monday comes you are ready and set to go. This will help you become more productive as you already have your whole week planned out.

Successful people don’t rush at the last moment to get things done; they do it ahead since it was already in their plans.

Success is never handed to you; you have to work for it.

Start therefore by involving yourself in activities that add value to your life (I am not saying you bury yourself in work). Knowing what you want and where you want to be in a couple of years will help level out your life and determine what activities are a priority and which one are not.
