Tips No One Will Tell You About Your Career

1. Your career is YOUR responsibility

No one will ever shape you destiny except you. It’s your responsibility to find ways of growing in your career. It’s not up to HR or your friends or your parents, it’s for you to know where you want to go and work towards that.

If you want to be successful, it means that you have to have to take charge of your life and excel. Go for that career you want because ten years from now, it will be you and what you have done with your life.

2. There is no shortcut; you must excel at what you do

Doing mediocre work won’t get you anywhere. In fact it won’t get you noticed by anyone. In the current job market, you need to do excellent work in order to get noticed.

You need to be good at what to do if you are to climb that corporate ladder. There are no shortcuts.

3. You need to be an expert at something

If you want to survive this unforgiving job market, you need to stand out. Have something that other people don’t have. Look for those areas in your job, in your job where you can excel and become an expert.

That way you can be the one who is always consulted on issues to do with that sector.

4. You will never love your job 100% but that’s okay

Most of us finish school, get jobs and assume that we will love every aspect of your jobs, but that is never the case.

Naturally, no one gets to love their job. Sure there will be aspects of it that you love but not everything. So what do you do? Find a way of dealing with the parts that you don’t like.

5. You must always prove your worth to the organization

If you want to grow in your career, you have to always prove that you are an asset to the organization. If not, someone else will beat you to it. You have to prove that you are important if you want to be promoted or to keep your job.

6. Arrogance is the fastest way you can bring your career to an end

Do you want to be a manager one day? The learn to be nice to people. Arrogance won’t get you anywhere. Treat others the way you would like to be treated. Learn to cope with different groups of people and to fit in any situation.
