Sheer Logic is seeking to engage a dynamic individual for the External Relations Advisor position for our client Marie Stopes Kenya.

Responsibilities for the External Relations Advisor Job

• Lead MSK’s county strategy and engagement  Identify counties for piloting initiatives based on defined criteria
• Develop and implement a strategy to enable MSK to influence at least two counties to commit and utilise resources for family planning
• Develop and implement a strategy to enable MSK to influence at least four counties to commit and utilise funds for HISP Support on-going budget advocacy on the creation of FP budget lines at County level
• Work with like-minded organisations and advocates to raise demand for local policy makers to prioritise FP and SRHR in County budgets
• Document the processes used to engage counties
• Develop and implement MSK’s national advocacy strategy  Engage in joint advocacy through national and County level stakeholder forums and Technical Working Groups (TWGs) Coordinate and implement all of MSK’s advocacy efforts across key subject areas such as health financing, safe abortion, adolescents, family planning and task-sharing Establish relationships with external funding mechanisms
• Explore opportunities to capitalise on the Bill and Melinda Gate’s funded ‘The Challenge Initiative’ (TCI) and the World Bank’s Global Fund Financing (GFF) to encourage counties to commit resources to MSK  Work with, and engage, NHIF and other like-minded stakeholders to successfully have LARCs included as fee-for-service in NHIF service package

Qualifications for the External Relations Advisor Job

• Degree in Health Finance, Health or Social Sciences or related area from a recognized university Possession of MPH, M Sc. Development studies, MA.
• Project Management and any relevant course  is an added advantage
• Preferred to have more than 5 years’ experience providing technical assistance in the design, implementation, and/or evaluation of health finance and economics programmes

Experience:

• Experience in the design, implementation and evaluation of healthcare finance and health economic policies and projects Experience and skills in financial analysis of health programmes
• Experience with government allocation, budgeting and financial management systems.
• Experience in the design, implementation and evaluation of healthcare finance and health economic policies and projects Experience and skills in financial analysis of health programmes
• Experience with government allocation, budgeting and financial management systems.
• Experience in the design, implementation and evaluation of healthcare finance and health economic policies and projects
• Experience and skills in financial analysis of health programmes

Skills

• Good interpersonal and relationship-building competencies, coupled with strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong analytical skills and technical proficiency with MS Excel and PowerPoint Energetic, forward thinking, creative person with intellectual depth and high ethical standards
• Must be able to work with minimal supervision
• MUST possess a high level of integrity and responsibility Must be computer literate and have strong report writing skills
• Ability to travel for 70% of the time Good interpersonal and relationship-building competencies, coupled with strong written and verbal communication skills
