4 Hilarious Ways Kenyans Have Told Their Bosses “I Quit” in Style

There are times when you feel frustrated at work and all you want to do is quit but then you probably don’t have another job coming up or a side hustle. It takes strength and courage to walk up to your boss and hand in your resignation letter.

Here is a list of funny ways that people have quit their jobs.

Peter Mwendwa recalls that his colleague came in excited one morning and said ‘this too shall pass’ and remained silent till lunchtime.

“When everyone came back from lunch he went to the bosses office, threw a piece of paper written ‘I quit’ on it, cleared his desk and high fived everyone in the office. We never saw him again and he never came for his salary,” adds Mr. Mwendwa

Ruth Mwangi narrates how her colleague quit his work because his business venture was bringing in more money and he felt that it was time to go.

“ He came to the office dressed in an expensive suit and then boldly told the boss that he could no longer afford to work for him and that his business (the employee’s) was losing money due to his absence. With that he gave the boss his business card and walked out. He never came back; not even to clean his office desk,” Ms. Mwangi adds.

Nicholas Wafula says that he has never had a funny scenario but if he had to quit he would do the following, “I would plan a huge party to be held on the day I quit my job; preferably on a Friday. I will make sure my work mates know the reason for having the party and then the boss will enjoy thinking it is a normal party. When the party comes to an end, I surprised the boss saying it was my send off party.”

In a certain video I came across there was a young man who quit his job with a song. He grabbed his (boss) attention and customers by saying ‘I have an announcement to make an I have my guys here to help me out’. With that,  they started singing “I am quitting this job today, I am leaving…got to go. That is why I sing this song. I am going, you know I said am gone,” he left his boss confused and dazed but the customers were entertained.

Whichever way you decide to quit, make sure you do not burn your bridges so that you advance in your career and have awesome recommendation letters.
