Meet 4 Impressive Women Among The Youngest CEO’s in Kenya
Young and definitely hungry. They are among the youngest female CEO’s in Kenya right now and one common thing about them is that they are determined to shape their own path and make a name for themselves in the corporate world.
And they are:
1. Muthoni Ndonga (CEO blankets and wine)
You probably know her as Muthoni the Drummer queen, but she is also the CEO of the popular outdoors event known as Blankets & Wine which is an afro-based picnic styled music festival in East Africa designed to showcase genres of afrocentric music and happens every first Sunday of the month
In a previous interview, she tells Saturday Nation that, “As a performer, I saw an opportunity in the market to create an event where Kenyans could come out and enjoy live music in a unique and family-friendly atmosphere. So five years ago, Blankets & Wine was born.
2. Winnie Mwendia( CEO Winnie’s Pure Health)
Ms Mwendia tells Business Daily that the idea of a Pure Health company started after she attended a health workshop in the United States.
On returning to Kenya, she took her gospel of healthy eating to schools, churches and women organizations, but, at the end of the day, the question was always asked: Where are these foods?
This inspired Ms Mwendia to set up a natural foods manufacturing company which she hoped would help change people’s unhealthy eating habits.
3. Mary Njoki (CEO Glass House PR)
In a previous interview with Career Point Kenya and K24, the 25 year old disclosed that she started her own company after working for 4 years and making very little money. Her back ground in IT and communication helped her start her own company.

“I used to do PR with some organizations as a volunteer I decide why not combine my communication and IT skills that I have to come up with something different form everyone else such that any other company can call me to do their online PR such as branding and strategies,” she told Career Point Kenya at the time
4. Olive Gachara (CEO Olive Image & Couture Africa Mgazine)
She is 28 years old and the founder of Olive Image and Couture Africa Magazine which is an image consultant and a magazine publishing firm.
In a previous interview with K24 she says that she studied Sales and Marketing and her background pushed her to open her business. She says that she used to do modeling and that she was asked so many times if she had someone she knew who did modeling. This brought about her business.
She says that, “I figured out that if I start a modeling agency I can get jobs for my friends and in return I would get the commission. That was the beginning of Olive Image and Couture Africa Magazine.”
You do not need to have a very complicated idea to become a CEO you just have to invest on your natural talents as these young women have shown us.
