Meet Capital FM Presenter With a Side Hustle & Who Agrees Not All Can Be Employed

She is a radio presenter and a news anchor at Capital FM. Before that, Anita Nderu was working at NTV as Teen Republik’s Production Assistant and show host alongside Antoneosoul where the show became very popular among the teens.

In a recent interview with My Ink in Your Heart, Anita talks about her job at Capital FM where she took over from Laura Walubengo.

“I absolutely love it! Every day is a challenge, news is always interesting; the people and stories I have encountered through it? Unbelievable! But most of all Capital FM is a wonderful place to work,” she says

The interview takes an interesting turn when she is asked about her views on entrepreneurship among young people and whether it can be a sustainable source of income.

And what’s her response? She says, “There isn’t room for all of us to be employed. The mentality of going to school ,getting a degree in an already saturated profession or not, looking for a job, getting married, having kids, then wait to die, came to an end.”

She adds that the world is now looking for entrepreneurs. “The younger, thirstier for success, the more innovative and energetic, the better. Start businesses (quit copycatting your fellow youth) that will satisfy those wants and needs,” she says.

Has she ever tried entrepreneurship herself? Turns out she has in the fashion business. And how did that turn out for her?

“My goodness! That is something I might never venture into again! I hate convincing people to buy…….Some needed extreme convincing bordering on pleading (which I loathe), self esteem boosting, goodness I was practically becoming a psychiatrist who sells clothes! Not my scene. So out I went,” she points out.

Only to later settle on cake baking.

“I love it! There is nothing more satisfying than making people’s stomachs swoon! I love everything about it,” she adds that she gets her clients through social media. “My work and quality speaks for itself.

“And just like most job seekers, Anita has had her share of unsuccessful job search in the past.

“When I was looking to enter the media industry and sent my C.V left right and centre and I heard nothing back, not even a rejection letter.”

She says she started doubting whether a career in the media was what she was cut for.

“I began looking for other forms of business to get into. In life that is what you do! Because everything happens at its own time and sometimes it’s not for you. Sitting around and sulking will not put food on the table. Pucker up and move on,” she advices.

In a past interview with The Standard, the young presenter talks about her mentor.

“Laura was quite perfect in what she did and I must commend her for that. She adds that she is her mentor.

“They say that going to Capital is like graduating in media school. It is like a passage. So far, I have leaned priceless lessons. Anchoring news has always been my first love,” she adds.
