Interview Tips: 5 Questions You MUST Answer Correctly To Get The Job

There are hundreds of questions the interviewer can ask a potential employee but there are specific ones which when answered wrongly can cost you the job.

Do you know the correct answer to job interview questions that are likely to be asked by potential employers?

Knowing these questions will save you the agony of a regret letter.

Salome Nderitu, a Human Resource Officer at Avery East Africa is here to set the record straight.

Her first advice is that “When going for a job interview, you should have all the information right on your fingertips,”

Question 1. Tell us about your former company and your duties

“A crucial interview question that must be answered correctly is about your working with a certain company. Your answer is important to the interviewer and you should be able to give that information correctly concerning your duties in that previous company and if it is true you actually worked there,” she says.

Question 2. Tell us about your work experience

“Another question to also answer correctly when in a job interview is also about your working experience. The moment you step into the interviewing room, you have all the information concerning the number of companies you worked for, the duration as well as the experience,” she opines.

Ms Nderitu also warns against guessing your work experience because it is going to make you lose your credibility.

“The interviewer may find that the answers you are giving out to be contradicting and this can them lose their trust and confidence in you.”

Question 3. When exactly did you leave school?

“Information such as the exact year which you left school is important for the knowledge of the interviewer if they are answered correctly.

Every other information that you tell regarding your school/ college details and also your tenure should be supported by the information on the CV,” she says.

In other words, let the information on the CV tally with what you are saying so that it does not sound contradicting,” she explains.

Question 4. Never lie about your age

She advises interviewees that “If you find yourself in the interview panel and you discover that you are either young or old contrary to the age requirement, tell the panel the truth and convince them that you are good.

In matters of age it is advisable to say the truth because they will know anyway from the documents you attach with your national ID included in it.”

“If you cannot be trusted with such simple information, how are they going to trust you to work in the company? She asks.

Question 5. Information regarding the company you are applying for

Ms Nderitu also adds that “one should have enough information about the company you are applying for in case they decide to test your knowledge.

Get to know and research about the organization because it is very important. You should also have information concerning the description of the position you are applying for and get to know the exact detail.”

“And lastly present yourself in a diligent and professional manner, be who you are and have confidence,” she concludes.

Proper interview preparation can be completed by simply doing your homework thinking critically and being honest with yourself.
