But the fearless governor is not new to controversy surrounding his personal or political life.

1. His Childhood and his Educational Background
Dr. Alfred Nganga Mutua was born in Masii, a remote part of Machakos District in Kenya’s Eastern Province. He attended Toi primary school in Kibera then proceeded to Dagoretti High School for his O’ levels.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism from Whitworth College, U.S.A, a Master of Science Degree in Communications from Eastern Washington University, U.S.A and a Doctorate in Communication and Media from the University of Western Sydney, Australia.

2. His First Job
This illustrious man had a very humble beginning in his early life as his first job was at a construction company also popularly known as mjengo to many.

3. His Professional Career
He worked as a lecturer in Daystar University and an assistant professor at Zayed University in Dubai.

He was also a movie director and a producer owning a production company by the name Golden Dreams Company Limited which produced Kenya’s first action series namely “Cobra Squad” and the popular TV show “Bebabeba” which airs on NTV.

4. His Family
Governor Alfred mutual is a family man who is blessed with his wife Josephine Mutua and 3 children.

5. About Leadership
In an interview with the Saturday nation, the governor speaks about the kind of leadership Kenyans want.

“The time has come for leadership to reflect the desires and wishes of the people of Kenya. Leadership that transforms dreams into reality in a speedy manner. Kenyans are tired of waiting for the dreams of independence to be realized.”

6. About Government Spokes man Post

In 2002 during the Kibaki regime, Alfred mutual was appointed as the government’s spokesman.

He was charged with the duty of collecting information and analyzing events within the set-up of the government. Essentially, his work entailed communicating information to and from media, government ministries, state corporations and the public on behalf the State.

7. His Entry into Politics
After close to nine years as the Government Spokesperson, Dr. Alfred Mutua resigned in September 2012 and joined the race for Machakos County Gubernatorial seat.

He became the flag bearer of the Wiper Democratic Movement Party and eventually won the election.

8. His Achievements as a Governor

In the interview with the Saturday nation, the governor, is proud of his achievements in his county on hospitals and roads.

“We have a comprehensive health programme that ensures every hospital has medicine and equipment and no one ever shares a hospital bed.

We are also expanding services so that treatment is conducted efficiently. We have purchased 80 ambulances so that every citizen or visitor in any corner of Machakos can receive medical emergency attention within 10 to 15 minutes of seeking help. We expect to reduce this time to the international standards of four to eight minutes.

9. On his Critics
The fearless governor is very clear and says that “I don’t mind haters, my focus is people.”
