5 Ways To Improve Your Entry Level CV & Start Getting Interviews

By Lilian Wamaitha

If you are like so many other entry level job seekers, you are wondering how to write your CV with zero years of experience.

When you are a fresh graduate with no exposure to the work environment, it can be confusing knowing how to format or even what to include in the CV.

Here is a step by step guide on how to boost your entry level CV and start getting interviews.

Find Out >>> The 7 Sections That Every CV Must Have

1. Volunteering

Volunteering is a great way to gain the experience you need to boost your entry level CV. It can be for a few weeks, months or even a year.

The experience you gain during that time will be worth so much more than if you stayed at home and kept applying for jobs.

2. Utilizing the opportunities at the university

You don’t have to wait until you graduate to start looking for a job.

There are so many opportunities in school that can give you the kind of experience you will need when you venture into the job market.

This way, when you graduate you will not be starting at square one like other graduates.

3. Freelancing

There are plenty of online websites where you can offer you skills and even make money.

This could be anything from writing articles, graphic design, data entry and other admin jobs.

4. Undertaking short courses

This is another great way of adding value to your CV. Nowadays you can enroll for a short course at a college or university as you wait for a job.

This way, you can start picking up on some real hands on sklls that you can add to your entry level CV.

5. Engaging in personal projects

This is another great way of boosting your CV if you don’t have any experience. Are you good at writing? Why don’t you start a blog? Do you have skills in graphic design?

Start your own projects and create you own portfolio. When now you get down to writing your CV, you can include all the work you have done.

Your CV will look much better if you have a few projects you can showcase rather than just your attachment experience.

Once you have your CV in order with skills and experiences, you can then try and get close to recruiters and employers. One way of doing it is uploading your CV to their databases making it more exposed. Ensure that you upload your CV to at least five databases.
