Everyone want to be a billionaire,and everyone is striving to get there and be among the top entrepreneurs in Kenya.

Stories have been told of billionaires who started off with selling charcoal and by the time of their death they had invested in five star hotels, shares in blue chip companies and even vast real estate projects.

Kenya is one of the largest economies in the east Africa and it boasts a lot of billionaire entrepreneurs compared to its neighbors Uganda Tanzania and Sudan.

1. Manu Chandaria

The Industrialist is a household name due to his charitable works in education and other sectors of community growth.Kenyan businessman of Indian descent born in Nairobi on 1 March 1929.

Along with being the chairman and CEO of the Comcraft Group of Companies, a billion dollar enterprise that has a presence in over 40 countries,[2][3] he is on the boards of several prominent East African companies.

2. Chris Kirubi

Chris Kirubi is the chairman and a shareholder of Haco Tiger Brands (a joint venture with Tiger Brands SA, listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange).

He is also CEO of Capital FM and holds large equity stakes in Nairobi Stock Exchange listed investment firm Centum, UAP Insurance and the Kenyan franchise of DHL.

Furthermore, he is a shareholder in Nairobi Bottlers, a bottling franchise for Coca-Cola.It is interesting to note thatMr Kirubi is also a Disc Jockey at Capital Fm, aradio station he owns.

3. Peter Munga,Equity Bank

Munga, 74, founded Equity Building Services, the microfinance institution that eventually became Equity Bank, Kenya’s largest commercial bank by market capitalization.

Today, Munga owns less than 0.5% of the publicly-traded bank, but he owes the bulk of his fortune to his 26% stake in Britam Holding, a listed financial services giant.

His shares in Britam are valued at more than $50 million. He is also a major shareholder of Equatorial Nuts, one of the leading macadamia processing companies in East Africa.

Tabitha Karanja is founder and CEO of Keroche Breweries. She is one of Kenya’s leading female top entrepreneurs in Kenya, a remarkable trailblazer and an example of a woman made good against all the odds.

Tabitha chose to venture where none before her had dared. She took on an 87-year-old business monopoly and entered an industry with a deeply entrenched male gender stereotype.

Tabitha broke the mould to become Kenya’s first home-grown beer and alcoholic drink manufacturer. Today, her company’s state-of-the-art production facility is targeting 20% of the Kenyan market.

5. Samuel Kamau Macharia,Royal Media Services

The Kenyan media mogul is the founder and chairman of Royal Media Services, the media conglomerate that owns the country’s dominant TV station, Citizen TV, as well as 11 English and local language radio stations.

According to international research firm Ipsos, Citizen TV had a 62.5% share of the Kenyan television market in 2016.
