Ways To Make Money While You Are Still Looking For A Job

1. Offer a service.
This is one of the best ways to earn a little bit of extra cash. In this regard you can pursue whatever you are comfortable with.
You can decide to offer services such as; cooking, make small deliveries, washing cars, fetching water and many more. This is a good way to make money because people will always be in need of such services.
I know a girl who cooks for a living. What she does is she makes weekly meals for people. Her clients are mostly single people living busy lives who don’t want to eat out every day. So she cooks and packs your meals for each day all you have to do is warm and eat.
She started it as a side hustle but now does it full time because the number of clients has grown which means she earns enough to sustain her.
To decide what service you can do look at your neighbourhood and what service people require most, this will ensure you have ready clients and start earning money immediately.
2. Use your talents
Are you very good at baking? Or maybe you are a very good artiste. No matter what your talent, there is a chance you can earn money from it. I have a cousin who used to make traditional Maasai dresses and jewellery while she was in university.
She would then sale them to shops that sold traditional artefacts and artier as well as some of her friends and family members. This was a way for her to earn some extra money that supplemented her pocket money.
What you need to do is figure out what you are good at and how you can make money from it. There are  people making money from selling things they have crafted from mats, baskets, clothes and even lamp shades.
3. Tutoring / Teaching
How many people do you know who got teaching jobs right after high school or college? If you always loved studying and teaching people, then, this is a great way to make money.
There are very many institutions that hire people who did well in school to tutor students. The best thing is you don’t have to have studied teaching.

This is a great way to make extra money and help someone in the process.
4. Social Media Marketing
How many followers do you have on social media? If your answer is thousands then you should be earning as much. Social media marketers earn as much as 30K a month from brand endorsements and promotions.
Before the year 2016 came to an end, the Daily Nation published an article about some of the highest earning Social Media Marketers in Kenya.
These personalities were all below 30 years and they were making a lot of money from their social media accounts, promoting events, campaigns and advertising brands such as clothing brands or companies.
This is a good way to make money if you are always on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc. The good thing about it is, you can do it in your free time and it won’t have to affect your job search.
In Conclusion,
Doing such odd jobs is not only a good way for you to make money to sustain you as you look for a job, but it is also a great way for you to network and meet people who might be able to help you in your career.
For example, some time back there was a story of a taxi driver who was talking to a managing director of a certain company and ended up getting an interview opportunity in the process.
