Why Success Is Never About Talent Or Luck But Consistency

Why Success Is Never About Talent Or Luck But Consistency

By Lilian Wamaitha
Are you always wondering why no matter how hard you work, you are not as successful as you had hoped you would be?
Do you ever wonder why others seem to be winning in every aspect of their life yet you remain in the same position?
We are surrounded by people who have succeed, people who seem to be perfect in our eyes, the media has given us a standard definition of what success should look like and it’s only natural that you want to work towards that.
However, in as much as we try to chase our dreams, there is one question you need to ask yourself; how consistent are you?
Do you find yourself starting something only to give up in the middle? Are you working on things that you are not invested in just because you think that that is what you should be doing?
Success at the end of the day is not about what you are talented in or being lucky; but what matters is how consistent you are in what you are doing? Here is how;
1. Learn to show up no matter what
Ask anybody who you consider successful, authors, actors or even musicians and one thing they will tell you is that the success they have today was a long journey in the making.
Whether it’s writing that book for 6 years or going to repeated interviews for a dream job, it is that consistency that will give you the success you long for in the end.
Never get tired of doing something over and over again. If you haven’t gotten that job yet, don’t say you will never apply or go for any other interviews. Just show up because I can assure you that you effort will pay off in the end.
Showing up no matter how many times you have done it just goes to affirm how much you want this and in the end it will also register in your mind.
I am however not telling you keep chasing every idea, know what you want and work towards that. If you are chasing something you are passionate about chances are that you will never feel like giving up until you make it happen.
2. You are responsible for your own life
One thing life teaches us is that we are responsible for every tear, every heartbreak, happiness or success we get in our lives.
Each and every person is chasing their dreams and instead of working towards what someone else has, why not start chasing your own dreams?
I mean, when it comes to life, you make all the choices and call the shots. Nobody can give you what you want and no one has the right to take it away from you.
Own that dream and make it your own and let others do that to their own dreams as well.

3. Finally, consistency will always be the key to success
Mastering anything in life will depend on you showing up and practicing it. If you want to write a book, you can’t do so if you don’t write or make an effort to start.
It’s a marathon not a quick run around the neighborhood. So no matter how many tims you need to practice something, go ahead and do it.
One thing I like telling people is that if you are invested in something, it will never become a burden to you. You will never give up on it and every day you will work to make into what you want.
You turn
You have heard of people who have become success over night but one thing I can assure you is that most success stories don’t happen that way. They take sacrifice, failure and in the end patience to see them through. They are the result of blood, sweat and tears and above everything else consistency is the key to everything else.
