If there is someone who you would expect to have given up in life, it’s Oprah Winfrey. Her dad was a coal miner and her mum a housemaid.
At the age of nine she was raped by a cousin, then again by another family member and another family member at age 13. She gave birth at the age of 14 but the baby later died in hospital.
Oprah Winfrey was fired from her first TV job as an anchor in Baltimore.  Now she’s a billionaire with her own TV channel and has managed to help a lot of young girls achieve their dreams as well.

2. Alibaba Founder
The story of Jack Ma is one of extreme determination and getting over your failures.
He applied to Harvard and was rejected ten times because he was not considered smart enough.

Now, he is the founder of one of the largest e-commerce websites in the world.
3. WhatsApp Co-founder
Brian Acton the co-founder of WhatsApp was rejected by both Facebook and Twitter.
He however, didn’t let this stop him from coming up with an app together with his friend that Facebook ended up buying for billions of dollars.
4. Disney Creator
Walt Disney is synonymous with cinematic success. When you think Disney what comes to mind is Mickey Mouse. His former newspaper editor told Walt he ‘lacked imagination and had no good ideas’.
However, the Mickey Mouse idea was rejected by MGM studios when he first pitched it. This is what pushed him into creating the Disney Empire.

J.K. Rowling may now be known as the author of the popular Harry Potter series but before that she was a jobless single mother struggling with depression.
When she started writing and sending her books to publishers, she was rejected 12 times.
In the end she became the richest author with a net worth of 1 billion dollars. She ended up losing her billionaire status because she donated most of her money.
