Finding the right career can be a difficult task especially in the current job market where there are very few job opportunities.
Because of this, so many people going into careers they are not interested in end up changing their careers along the line or be stuck in a job they hate which will severely hurt their chances of achieving career success.
The number of people looking to switch career has gone up because people are mostly taking a job just so that they can be able to pay their bills. But after a while they realize they can never truly achieve career growth if they have no love for what they do.
Here are the steps to finding the right career
1. Get career coaching
When it comes to finding the right career, most of the time you cannot do it on your own, especially since there are so many options out there. This is where a career coach comes in.
A good career coach is someone who will help you figure out your career path by going through your goals, strengths, and weaknesses to help you make an informed choice on the right path to take.
However, it is important to note that a career coach will not tell you what career to choose, they will just help you figure out what path is right for you.

2. Look at your goals
Not every job will help you achieve your goals; this is why if you want to achieve certain career goals, you need to ensure you are in the right career.
Make a list of your professional goals as well as what you need to do to get there. Compare this list to a list of all the possible career paths you can take.
This will give you have a clear idea of what your options are and after knowing that; you can then make an informed decision on what career is best for you.
3. Look for overlap
A great career for you is one that you are good at, that employers have a need for and you actually enjoy doing.
These might be three very different things but you need to find out what connects them. So when you are looking for jobs, don’t just apply for jobs because of their title and salary, but instead look at how that job aligns with your interests.
Other than whether you have the necessary experience, you also need to ask yourself; would you enjoy doing those duties day in day out or are you going to hate the job a few months down the line?
Knowing your values, passions, and skills is a great way of finding the right career.

It might be difficult for you to know exactly what a certain career really entails. So a great way to find out about different career options without necessarily taking up jobs is to meet people who are in different careers.
You will get more first-hand information from connecting with these people which can help you make informed choices.
Not only that but networking is also a great way for you to improve your job search and enable you to get a job you want after deciding which career path you want to take.
It will be easier for the people you meet to recommend you for positions because you already established a relationship with them.
Don’t wait to start networking only when you are looking for a job you should always be networking.
There are some people who end up loving the job they choose even if it wasn’t something they had wanted at first. But for those that don’t, you have to work on finding the right career for yourself.
