There are various types of business degrees you can choose to undertake, such as; a degree in business studies, commerce, finance, accounting marketing, Human Resource and personnel management and more.

While some of these career paths are open to people who didn’t study business, some employers have a preference for graduates with a business background, while for others it is a definite requirement.

So, what can you do with a business degree?

The good thing about a business course is that it can open you up to many entry-level positions upon graduation.

1. Career in accounting and finance

By taking a business course, you can choose to pursue a career in either finance or accounting. However, if you choose to go down this path, then you will have to do more than just get a certificate.

You will also have to do CPA or ACCA in order to boost your chances of getting a job in accounting or finance.

However, it’s important to note, that this is a very competitive field and in order for you to succeed you will need to do more than just going to school.

That isn’t to say that there are no job opportunities in accounting or finance, you just need to find a way to have an advantage over other job seekers.

You can do this by taking a practical accounting skills class which can help show employers that you already know how to do the job even with minimum working experience

2. Career in sales and marketing

Opportunities within sales and marketing field are numerous, this is because; companies will always have a need for sales personnel as well as marketers.

People in this field of work are also some of the best paid, depending on the company size and experience level. There are some sales and marketing professionals who earn up to 6 digits plus commission.

However, in order for you to succeed, in this field you actually need to have the passion for sales.

Not to mention that in administration, you can start working fresh out of college because there are many entry level positions available.

5. Career in customer service

Although this is one of the career paths you can go into with any degree, having a business related degree will help boost your chances of getting a job, especially at organization that require someone who has studied business.

Just like administration, a career in customer service is something you can start with zero work experience.
