Although these are important, they are just the basics. It takes more than how you dress to pass an interview. Granted dressing well will prevent you from immediate disqualification; it is not what will make the interviewer hire you.

If you actually want to get the job, you will have to prove a few things to the interviewer.

1. You were indispensable in your previous jobs

2. You Will Be Awesome in This New Job

It’s not just talking about what you have achieved before, it is also very important that you show the interviewer that you will also be able to achieve great things working in the position.

This is where you skills come in, you need to show the employer how the skills you possess will help you perform well in the position.

This is why it is important that you go through the job description and see what exactly the company is looking for. If you want to pass the interview then you need to show the interviewer that you are who they are looking for and can provide answers to the challenges they are facing.

Having a good track record is important but if the employer doesn’t feel like you can add value to them then they will not hire you.

However, it’s important to remember that it is still an interview so you shouldn’t become too comfortable.

4. You Really Want This Job

There is a reason why an interviewer will ask you “why do you want this job?”

They want to see if you are truly interested in the position and company or not. Employers want to hire who someone who wants to be there and will be part of the team for a long time. They don’t want to hire someone they think will leave after a short time.

You can show that you are truly interested in the position by showing that you understand what the role is, how you can add value to the company in that position and how the position will add value to your career.
