Finding a job is not easy especially at a top company such as MultiChoice which is the parent company for DStv and GOtv.
I spoke to someone who has worked for MultiChoice (DStv & GOtv) and they gave me information on what the hiring process for a customer service agent job is like.
How to get a customer service job at MultiChoice
The company normally advertises open positions on their website and it is up to you to keep checking in order to find out when they are hiring.
In her case, she had to drop her application at their offices.

What is the Interview process like?
You will be subjected to two interviews. The first one is more of a get to know you interview with questions like ‘tell me about yourself’ and other similar questions.
There is also a reading test, where you are given a script that you have to read out loud. The test is meant to determine your English speaking capabilities.
After this, you have to wait a week or so before getting feedback from the organization.
If you pass this first interview, you will then be invited for a second interview which is a timed typing test.
This test basically measures your typing speed as well as your accuracy when it comes to typing.
It takes another one week or so to find out whether you passed the interview or not.
What happens after the interview?
If you succeed and pass both interview stages, you will be asked to join a two to three weeks of practical training where you are shown how to handle the systems.
You will not be paid during this training and there is no guarantee you will get the job.
The last part of the training involves role play, where you are put in a practical situation handling a customer.
If you pass this final test you will then be offered the job.
You will receive a final answer on the same day you had the role play because you have to start working immediately.
Who can get the customer service agent job?
The company requires that you have a certificate, diploma or degree in any field. No experience is required but experience working in customer service is an added advantage.
You are required to be able to speak and write both English and Swahili well.
What are the working conditions?
You will have the option to either work night-shift or day-shift.
You will be required to work for three months under probation and afterward, you get hired on a permanent basis.
Salary increments will happen every three months after you have been confirmed.

How much does a Customer service agent earn?
You will first be offered 30K as the starting salary and this will increase after the first three months of getting hired permanently.
