Profile Introduction

Our client, an international courier and freight company is seeking to recruit an operations manager

Role Summary;

  • Responsible for running a robust operations department in the company with a smooth and efficient service that meets the expectations and needs of clients
  • The role reports to Chief Operations Officer

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Supply Chain management or a relevant business course;
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain management or a relevant business course;
  • Certificate in a logistics management related course Professional Qualifications / Membership to professional bodies
  • Diploma in clearing and forwarding, warehouse management, mechanical engineering or business related fields;
  • EACFFPC/KRATI/KESRA/KISM/CIPS membership;
  • Single window, TRADEX and KENTRADE with vide usage of TRADEX and KENTRADE;
  • Minimum of seven (7) years’ relevant experience gained from a reputable organization

Responsibilities

  • Manage day to day departmental activities, analyzing statistics while reading and writing reports;
  • Improve operational efficiencies to increase ability to process consignments and shipments continually seeking improvement opportunities;
  • Lead the operations team and drive departmental objectives, sharing knowledge and developing skills as appropriate;
  • Identify, escalate and advice management on recurring/consistent problems with systems, regulations, policies and third-party functionalities;

Liaise with other departmental managers and contribute in strategy, policy and results management;

  • Forecast requirements, participate in annual budget development, schedule expenditures, analyze variances and initiate corrective actions;
  • Oversee the preparation of work plans and submission of operations department periodic budgets, reports and statistics;
  • Administrate compliance and adherence to export/import administration regulations;
  • Organize regular trainings for operations staff to continually develop knowledge ensuring changes in operational dynamics are understood and implemented;
  • Periodically identify training needs and skills development requirements or in-house training opportunities;
  • Participate in identifying staffing needs, selection, recruitment, onboarding and performance management in the department;
  • Represent the organization in relevant meetings and respond to internal and external inquiries; Job Dimensions:

 Financial Responsibility:

  • Participate in budget development with overall responsibility of the department’s budget
  • Approve expenses and authorize payment
  • Present reports to the COO II. Working Conditions:
  • Works predominantly within a comfortable office environment.
  • Is required to travel to the field from time to time
