Sokowatch is currently seeking for a high-potential recent graduate to fill a Business Intelligence Analyst. This analyst will be the primary team member responsible for querying, visualizing and analyzing data to support Sokowatch’s operational teams. The ideal candidate will be able to effectively liaise with colleagues across sub-Saharan Africa to field requests for data-related tasks and support the implementation of data-driven operational processes. While this position requires some baseline skills working with data, the role presents significant opportunities for professional growth and skills development; therefore, we are focusing on hiring the most high-potential candidate for the position.


  • Nairobi, Kenya, with flexibility to move to other locations in Africa upon gaining sufficient experience

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and fine-tune dashboards for operations teams
  • Conduct data analysis identify and measure trends
  • Interface with other teams to address gaps in data utilization and surface metrics to help optimize operations
  • Identify and evaluate risks, gaps, and process inefficiencies in conjunction with other teams
  • Support and pilot evaluation of new initiatives


The successful candidate will possess:

  • 0-3 years of professional experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, statistics, computer science, mathematics or a related field
  • Excellent analytical & logical problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel and PowerPoint
  • Eagerness to learn new technical, analytical and professional skills
  • Strong interest in technology and e-commerce within sub-Saharan African markets
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities, assignments, and roles
  • Ability to work independently with strong time management and ability to execute on multiple concurrent deliverables
  • Attention to detail and keen eye for effective visual design
  • Fluency in English (both oral and written) and the ability to communicate with sophistication within a business setting


Desired but non-essential attributes include:

  • Ability to speak Swahili/French
  • Experience coding in python( Specifically for data science)R or SQL
  • Familiarity with data visualization software
  • Familiarity with A/B testing and causal inference
