Our client in the Construction Industry is seeking to recruit a highly talented professional to fill in the following positions for their various projects in Kenya:

CONSTRUCTION MANAGER (2 positions)

Reporting to the Operations Director, Construction Manager will be responsible for leading the overall management of the construction. The incumbent will also ensure successful management, delivery and handover of the project, within budget and to schedule.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Driving and maintaining exceptional standards of performance of the construction works, in particular against four key pillars: cost, quality, time and people;
  • Rigorously managing the financial performance and accountability of the construction project;
  • Managing and supporting the performance of the project team, including the Site Supervisor(s), labourers and subcontractors;
  • Providing accurate, detailed and timely reports on project performance for both internal governance and client communications purposes, and also ensure ordered records and data are maintained on site at all times;
  • Maintaining accurate and updated key project plans, including the Programme (Schedule of Works), Labour Plan, and Plant & Equipment Plan;
  • Ensuring materials and other resources are requisitioned in good time and in effective communication with the Procurement & Stores team;
  • Ensuring health and safety standards and pro-active enforcement measures are upheld at all times;
  • Tracking and effectively communicating productivity for equipment, material, and labour resources in coordination with Procurement & Stores team;
  • Foreseeing delays, risks and communicate clearly in advance;
  • Troubleshooting and addressing any problems or challenges which arise on the project;
  • Managing all quality assurance measures, including proper adherence to inspections, method statements and tests;
  • Supporting the client in understanding and meeting their contractual obligations;
  • Working cooperatively with the client and project consultants (e.g. the Architect and Structural Engineer) to maintain a positive relationship at all times and ensuring their goals on the project are also met;

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction related field
  • A minimum of 8 years’ relevant working experience in Construction and Project Management
  • Proficient in MS Project or similar software
  • Knowledge in construction methodology and material pricing
  • A professional qualification will be an added advantage
  • Excellent report writing, presentation, communication, leadership and problem-solving skills
