PMP Certification: 5 Top Tips for Passing PMP Examination

We all know that studying for an exam requires tremendous effort, time, and diligence. The PMP Certification exam is tougher than most, requiring extensive preparation over many months to pass. In other words, your PMP exam prep is critical!

During the last  PMP Certification training class, we asked our trainer, Victor, to advise us on how we can successfully tackle our PMP exams.

“There is a lot of material to absorb in the area of Project Management, and you will need to be able to master the practical applications of that information,” Victor said.

As one of the fastest-growing certifications worldwide (there are now more than 762,000 holders), the number of PMP exam takers is on the rise, which means more competition!

But don’t worry; with the right combination of effort, dedication, and guidance, one can still master the entire PMP syllabus.

Here are the top tips we learned from our tutor that helped us pass the PMP Certification examination.

1. Have a Timetable

The curriculum serves as a roadmap for your preparation. Victor advised us that before we can sit down and study, we need to clearly explain our goals and plan how we will achieve them. Let’s face it: testing can be very difficult for most of us. If you do not have a clear local road, it is effortless to get lost while preparing without knowing where you are going.

“You need to include some crucial points when preparing your plan, and the most important is the time. How many months do you have to prepare? How many hours can you put to the test each day? Can you study in the morning before going to your office, or do you like the night?” he said.

2. Know The PMBOK Guide

Being competent with the PMBOK® guide is one of the most critical steps in passing the PMP exam. There are many books out there on the market, but nothing can compensate for the official guide.

The guide provides theory or facts after the procedures; the guide will build your foundations in project management.

3. Take Advantage of Online PMP Exam Simulators

PMP simulators are practice PMP exams hosted online. They test the applicant with questions that follow the same format as the actual PMP® exam.

They also aim to replicate the exam environment, so you become comfortable with the timing and the pressure. They are a great way to gauge your level of preparation.

4. Participate in Study Groups and Discussion Forums

Participating in the discussion groups is one of the strategies to acing the exam because you share knowledge with others and this enhances collaborative learning.

Discussing in groups enhances a deeper understanding because of the diverse perspectives, and you learn different approaches to handling the PMP certification test.
