Our Client is an International tech company with a growing footprint in Africa that provides financing solutions to Agribusinesses. They are seeking to hire a a highly motivated Marketing Manager for our Kenyan office. This pivotal role will drive our marketing efforts and play a key role in shaping the future of agricultural financing in Kenya.

About the Role

This role is critical as you will be the primary marketing presence on the ground in Kenya, directly supporting our remote global team. You will be the local expert, ensuring that our strategies resonate with Kenyan audiences and are executed flawlessly. Your responsibilities will span across three key areas: copy and content creation, deep knowledge of the Kenyan market, and field marketing support and execution.

This is a highly hands-on position where you will be directly involved in the planning, execution, and optimization of our marketing initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be our local expert: Develop a deep understanding of the Kenyan advertising landscape, including pricing, practices, and the ability to identify and establish partnerships with top vendors and media outlets.
  • Copy and content creation: Own the creation of all marketing content, including digital and print materials, ensuring they are tailored to resonate with the Kenyan audience. Collaborate with the remote team to align on messaging and strategy.
  • Field marketing support and execution: Lead on-the-ground marketing efforts, from planning and executing local events, expos, and promotions to supporting our field teams in driving engagement and awareness.
  • Act as our “boots on the ground”: Provide critical insights and feedback on market conditions, competitive landscape, and customer sentiment to help shape our overall marketing strategy.
  • Monitor the results of marketing initiatives and apply data-driven improvements.
  • Stay aligned with upper management and initiate marketing activities that support the company’s strategy for business development and project launches.
  • Collaborate with customers on marketing initiatives.
  • Stay abreast of best practices and new product development trends.
  • Strategize with and report regularly to the Marketing Director.

  • Education:
    • Advantage: BA/BS in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
    • Advantage: Multilingual in African languages.
  • 4+ Years of Marketing Experience:
    • Proven experience in managing media channels, content and copy creation, field marketing planning and execution, project management, and using marketing-specific metrics and analytics.
  • Hands-On Expertise in the Kenyan Market:
    • In-depth knowledge of the Kenyan advertising landscape, including target audiences, pricing, media buying, and vendor management.
    • Ability to identify and build relationships with top local vendors, media houses, and agencies.
  • Hands-On Field Marketing Experience:
    • Strong background in planning, executing, and managing on-the-ground marketing initiatives, such as local events, expos, webinars, and field promotions.
    • Experience in supporting and executing field marketing strategies to increase brand awareness and customer engagement.
  • Exceptional Copywriting and Content Creation Skills:
    • Proven ability to create compelling, market-specific content that resonates with Kenyan audiences across various channels, including digital and print.
    • Strong command of English; Kiswahili proficiency is an advantage.
  • Strategic and Analytical Thinking:
    • Understanding of marketing methodologies, techniques, and tools.
    • Ability to analyze data and feedback from the market to inform strategy and optimize marketing efforts.
  • Project Management and Execution:
    • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
    • Strong execution skills with a proactive, can-do approach.
  • Communication and Collaboration:
    • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with remote teams and cross-functional departments.
    • Comfortable working independently while maintaining close communication with the global team.
  • Team-Player Mentality:
    • Proactive, open-minded, and invested in the success of colleagues as much as your own; able to compromise and work towards collective goals.
  • Industry Knowledge:
    • Familiarity with the agricultural and financial sectors in Kenya is essential; experience in fintech is a strong advantage.
