Reporting: Directly reports to the Managing Director

Scope and General Purpose

Manage & supervise the functional and administrative duties and responsibilities of the accounts department. Functions as an advisor / consultant and keeps accurate business transactions in ledgers and ensures the team records them on financial statements monthly, quarterly and yearly. Lead and grow the team while controlling cost and improving productivity.

Main Duties

Manages and supervises the functional & administrative duties & responsibilities of the Accounts.

  • Ensures compliance to accounting policies & procedures.
  • On time preparation and reporting of periodic & year-end Financial Statements as per IFRS
  • Preparation of budgets in close liaison with Head of Departments and General Manager.
  • Review and control of approved budgets.
  • Management Reporting (MIS).
  • Asset, cash, accounts receivable and payables management.
  • Staff payroll administration. – salary calculation and payment & monitoring staff benefits.
  • Co-ordination with division heads and senior management.
  • Maintains involvement in each aspect where the intervention of finance is needed.
  • Maintains banking relationship (Bank Facilities, Guarantees, etc.…)
  • Co-ordination with auditors and making sure to achieve proper and on time reporting of reviewed and audited financials.
  • Compliance to legal requirements (e.g. Commercial Registrations, Licenses, etc.)
  • Maintains good relationship with clients, suppliers and other business partners and ensures all finance related issues are being attended properly.
  • Monitor suppliers, prepayments.
  • Monitors general invoicing, credit limits, refunds, delivery of invoices timely, AR, petty cash custodian.
  • Handles AR cases, liaises between the lawyers and customers (e.g. legal notices delivery, court fees)

Requirements and Skills

  • Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics with over 5years experience in a similar role
  • Professional qualifications such as CFA/ CPA(K)
  • A Masters degree in Finance or Accounting will be an added advantage
  • Must be an ICPAK registered member and in good standing
  • A solid understanding of financial statistics and accounts principles
  • Proficient user of Finance & Accounting software.
  • Administrative and Supervisory skills.
  • World-Class problem-solving skills.
  • Good knowledge of Tours and Travel Systems
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership and communications skills
