Position Description

The Operations Supervisor is responsible for managing and supervising operations for refurb and value-added production activities in Kenya.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Coordinate with Business Desk:

  • Collaborate with the business desk team for Jira account generation, scanning, and printing.

Team Training and Supervision:

  • Train and supervise the shop floor team to ensure effective operations.
  • Oversee daily activities to ensure efficient workflow and high productivity.
  • Provide guidance and support to help team members achieve their performance goals.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and offer constructive feedback.

Operational Management:

  • Plan and manage Value-Added (VA) processes and refurbishment projects.
  • Oversee and review VA and refurbishment reports.

Inventory Management:

  • Manage inventory on the shop floor and coordinate with supply chain and procurement teams to maintain stock levels.
  • Ensure a continuous and timely supply of materials to the warehouse and production.

Quality Collaboration:

  • Work with the quality team on Incoming Quality Control (IQC) and Outgoing Quality Control (OQC) for VA and refurbishment activities.

Resource Management:

  • Handle workforce management, including recruitment and maintaining team motivation.
  • Allocate and utilize resources such as personnel, equipment, and materials for optimal productivity.

Rework and Quality Screening:

  • Coordinate and oversee necessary rework and quality screening.

Process Optimization:

  • Manage and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) on the shop floor.
  • Identify areas for improvement and implement changes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with other departments to streamline processes and boost overall performance.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Prepare and implement countermeasures and improvement plans.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging innovation and best practices.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to maintain team competitiveness.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Prepare and maintain accurate records, including daily reports, shift schedules, and performance metrics.
  • Analyze data and generate reports to support management decision-making.

Problem Solving:

  • Address and resolve operational issues to minimize workflow disruptions.
  • Develop contingency plans and strategies to handle risks and unexpected challenges.

Health and Safety:

  • Promote a safe working environment by enforcing health and safety protocols and conducting regular inspections.
  • Lead safety meetings and ensure team awareness of safety procedures.

Communication:

  • Maintain clear communication with upper management, team members, and other departments.
  • Facilitate regular team meetings to discuss goals, performance, and areas for improvement.

Requirements

Desired Skills and Experience

  • 2 to 5 years of prior work experience with degree or diploma in business management, operation, engineering or a related field is required
  • Must have high level of ownership and accountability
  • Must be able to maintain control while reacting quickly and developing solid solutions in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong mindset for continuous improvement and meeting or exceeding expectations and able to demonstrate complete discretion and confidentiality
  • Excellent communication, computer, math, analytical, and strong problem solving and decision-making skills
