About Our Client
Our client is an esteemed chocolatier based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and known for their commitment to quality and innovation. They are seeking a passionate Chocolate Chef who will be responsible for crafting a wide range of chocolate-based products, from classic truffles to unique seasonal offerings.
The Role
As the Chocolate Chef, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the highest standards of taste, presentation, and hygiene in the production of artisanal chocolates, ganaches, pralines, and other confections. Your expertise in tempering, molding, and enrobing chocolate will be essential in delivering exceptional products that delight customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and create a variety of high-quality chocolate-based items, including chocolates, truffles, pralines, and bars
- Innovate and experiment with new flavors, textures, and designs for seasonal products or special collections
- Expertly handle chocolate tempering and molding techniques to ensure consistent texture and shine
- Design elegant finishes for chocolate products and oversee proper packaging for presentation and shelf-life
- Monitor inventory levels of chocolate and other ingredients, ensuring timely orders and minimizing wastage
- Maintain high standards of quality and ensure all products meet company specifications for taste and appearance
- Adhere to food safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized work station
- Train junior staff, collaborate with the pastry team, and contribute to a positive kitchen environment
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Chocolate Chef or Chocolatier in a bakery, restaurant, or chocolate production environment
- Expertise in tempering, molding, and enrobing chocolate, as well as proficiency in creating ganaches, pralines, truffles, and other confections
- Strong ability to innovate and develop new chocolate recipes and designs
- Excellent eye for presentation, flavor balancing, and texture refinement
- Thorough understanding of chocolate varieties, flavor combinations, and shelf-life considerations
- In-depth knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and stand for long periods
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively within a team
