Responsibilities

Operational Control

  • Develop and oversee weekly schedules for warehouse activities in Nairobi and Mombasa, ensuring efficient team coordination.
  • Always maintain stock variance accuracy at a minimum of 99.9% and accuracy in stock figures.
  • Ensure all damaged goods are kept in a saleable condition and provide weekly reports on damages in Nairobi and Mombasa warehouse.
  • Maintain real-time updates of bin cards following all loading and offloading activities.
  • Ensure 100% product labelling compliance upon receipt, including MSDS, COA, bin cards, and MKE labels.
  • Monitor and manage the performance of Material Handling Equipment (MHE) to ensure optimal offloading/loading times per Truck/FCL (target: 25-30MT).
  • Enhance manual offloading/loading efficiency to meet target times of 1.5–2 hours for 25- 30MT.
  • Improve reporting timelines for offloading activities and reduce delays in stacking and putaway processes.

Supply Chain Cost Optimization

  • Prepare detailed cost analysis reports covering all supply chain activities, including incoming shipments, storage, and distribution.
  • Regularly review and negotiate current supplier costs.
  • Establish Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with all transport partners, ensuring accountability and performance standards.
  • Manage contracts for all existing transport partners, and promptly address any arising gaps/challenges.
  • Research and Development
  • Identify and evaluate alternative transport solutions to reduce reliance on call-off truck arrangements.
  • Collect and analyse data to recommend safe and efficient solutions for caustic soda handling and dissolution.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Logistics, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years in warehouse operations and supply chain management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within a similar industry.
  • Proven expertise in optimizing supply chain operations for efficiency and cost- saving.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices within warehouse environments.
  • Problem-solving capabilities and detail oriented.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and time management skills.
  • Strong leadership abilities, including the capacity to manage and develop high-performing teams. Proven ability to motivate teams, foster collaboration, and drive results.
  • A business-Oriented Mindset with a Hands-On Approach focused on developing and managing relationships with 3PL providers.
