Responsibilities

• Work with the hospital administration on planning, organizing and directing laboratory operations.
• Develop, implement and ensure adherence to and established laboratory procedures, manuals and standards for all tests done in the laboratory.
• Ensure that testing systems developed and used for each of the tests performed in the laboratory provide quality and accurate laboratory results for all aspects of test performance.
• Identify and appoint all referral laboratories in liaison with the procurement office and under the supervision of the Operations Manager.
• Ensure total compliance with all relevant safety and infection control policies and procedures by the hospital and all licensing and regulatory authorities.
• Ensure that the laboratory participates effectively in the quality assurance program of the hospital both internal and external.
• Define, implement, and monitor accepted standards of performance in quality control and quality assurance of the laboratory services.
• Ensure operations conform to Quality Management requirements and engage activities for continuous quality improvement
• Monitor, manage and report all occurrences and incidents happening in the laboratory department.
• Define, monitor and report laboratory Turnaround times for all tests and share regular reports for decision-making.
• Oversee laboratory referral process to ensure sample integrity is maintained all the time and results are not compromised.
• Support the laboratory to attain ISO 15189:2012 Accreditation.

Qualifications

• Registration Certificate and valid practicing license issued by KMLTTB.
• Experience in an ISO 15189:2012 accredited Laboratory.
• Certificate in computer application

Education

•  Bachelors Degree or Higher Diploma in Medical Laboratory Science and Technology or its equivalent
•  Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences from an institution recognized by the KMLTTB
