Group Head of Procurement & Logistics Job KTDA

The Role

  • Reporting to the Group Chief Executive Officer, the successful candidate will be responsible for procuring goods and services for KTDA, Group of Companies, and KTDA-managed Tea factory companies.

Duties and Responsibilities.

  • Developing and implementing procurement strategies, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensuring solicitation, receipt, and analysis of proposals, quotations, and tender submissions and recommend selection.
  • Ensuring maintenance of updated suppliers list.
  • Ensuring procurement of various materials, works, and services for the company are at the most competitive prices.
  • Ensuring availability of an up-to-date specification list for machinery and other supplies.
  • Advising management and the Board on procurement matters.
  • Ensuring preparation of budgets and effective controls.
  • Ensuring proper implementation of all purchase agreements and contracts.
  • Reviewing, and compiling the Tender documents to the management tender committee and Tender Board.
  • Spearheading negotiations on behalf of KTDA on procurement matters.
  • Developing work plans and budgets for the department for approval.
  • Oversee the execution of divisional/departmental work plans and budgets.
  • Managing staff job performance and evaluation, career development, capacity building, and deployment of skills.
  • Support in coordination in the procurement & supply chain management function of the company’s subsidiaries so that there are significant savings in the direct material cost.
  • Ensuring the procurement procedures and processes are adhered to.
  • Securing full ownership of the material and services in all the subsidiaries including project stations in managing stock control.
  • Maintaining a complete and updated database and managing identification, negotiation, and selection of vendors/suppliers.
  • Ensuring compliance with statutes and various policy guidelines of the company’s business opportunities.
  • Providing leadership and ensuring efficient and effective management of staff and resources in the department.
  • Managing the implementation of risk mitigation measures and updating the department’s Enterprise Risk Register
  • Providing professional advice to user departments on procurement processes and procedures
  • Preparing and submitting monthly, quarterly, and annual reports;

Qualifications/Skills/Experience.

  • A Degree in Purchasing & Supplies Management from a recognized institution.
  • A Master’s degree in procurement & logistics and an MBA in Business Management is an added advantage.
  • A certification in Supply Chain Management from a recognized institution (Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) or Kenya Institute of Supplies Management (KISM).
  • Diploma in Purchasing and supplies/Logistics Management and added advantage
  • Must be a member of KISM/CIPS/CSPS.
  • Valid practicing license and an active member of the Kenya Institute of Supplies Management
  • Minimum fifteen (15) years of relevant experience in a recognized institution and 6 years in a similar position.
  • Ability to handle divisional budgets, resources, processes, projects, and relationships.
  • Should have a thorough knowledge of the relevant industry/sector as well as knowledge of regulatory requirements affecting the relevant sector.
  • A team leader and a player with a high level of integrity.
  • Strategic leadership skills with the ability to build strategic relationships
  • Experience in change management and the ability to drive change in a team.
  • Possess management and Leadership skills
