Chief Engineer Electrical Job PSCK

Qualifications

  • served for a minimum three (3) years at the grade of Principal Superintending Engineer (Electrical), CSG 6;
  • a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or any other relevant and equivalent qualification from a University recognized in Kenya;
  • been registered by Engineers Registration Board of Kenya;
  • current valid annual Practicing Licence from the Engineers Registration Board of Kenya;
  • membership with the Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK);
  • attended a Project Development and Management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized Institution;
  • demonstrated a high degree of professional competence, administrative capability
  • required for effective planning, direction, control and coordination of power sector programmes; and
  • a thorough understanding of National goals, policies’ and programmes and the ability to translate them into the power sector functions.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Formulating Energy policy in the electricity subsector;
  • Enhancing, reinforcing and upgrading of the power sector infrastructure;
  • Mobilizing of fund for power transmission and distribution projects;
  • Coordinating the national electrification strategies towards achieving universal access to electricity;
  • Coordinating the development of the National Electricity Master Plan;
  • Coordinating, following-up and reviewing of feasibility studies on national transmission and distribution projects;
  • Coordinating power tariff study;
  • Developing energy sector cooperation frameworks and protocols with regional Governments and international bodies;
  • Promoting of strategies that will minimize international energy trade barriers, attract investments and facilitate exchange of information and data; and Coordinating the development of a new and robust national grid system.
  • Coordinating the development and review of budgets of the Directorate; and
  • Coordinating the monitoring and evaluation of power transmission and distribution projects.
