Human Resource Manager Job RSS

Role Overview

  • The Human Resource Manager will own the end-to-end people function at RSS—shaping policy, safeguarding compliance, and enabling a high-performance culture that supports our security teams in the field and at headquarters. You will act as a strategic partner to senior leadership, ensuring that every HR process—from recruitment to exit—is fair, efficient, and aligned with Kenyan labor law and global best practice.

Responsibilities

  • Compliance & Governance    – Ensure 100 % adherence to the Employment Act, OSHA, NSSF, NHIF, data-privacy, and any new statutory requirements.- Keep contracts, employee handbooks, and HR policies continuously updated.- Liaise with external counsel; represent RSS in tribunals or court when required.
  • Employee Relations & Union Liaison    – Maintain constructive relationships with unions; manage collective bargaining agreements.- Advise managers on disciplinary matters; chair hearings and ensure procedural fairness.- Mediate grievances, workplace disputes, and whistle-blowing cases to timely resolution.
  • Performance & Talent Management    – Design, roll out, and monitor KPIs and annual appraisal cycles.- Identify skills gaps and craft training / succession plans.- Drive recognition, reward, and career-path frameworks that boost retention.
  • Recruitment & On-boarding    – Lead full-cycle recruitment for all business units, balancing speed and quality of hire.- Champion employer branding and inclusive hiring practices.- Oversee induction programmes so new hires reach productivity swiftly.
  • HR Analytics & Strategy    – Track HR metrics (turnover, absenteeism, cost-per-hire, engagement scores).- Provide data-driven insights and quarterly reports to leadership.- Propose HR initiatives that lower risk and raise workforce productivity.
  • Well-Being & Culture    – Coordinate wellness programmes, EAP services, and safety training.- Foster a culture grounded in RSS’s core values: integrity, vigilance, and service.- Lead diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives company-wide.

Minimum Requirements

  • Registration: Member in good standing of the Human Resource Management Institute of Kenya (HRM-I)
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or related field
  • Certification: Valid HR practicing certificate
  • Experience: 5 + years in an HR Manager / Senior HR Officer role, preferably in security, FMCG, logistics, or other 24/7 operational environments
  • Proven knowledge of Kenyan labor legislation, industrial relations, and HR best practice
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change, influence cross-functional teams, and resolve conflict
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills (both written and verbal)
