Laboratory Analyst Job Vivo Energy

Job Purpose:

Receive, test and issue results of submitted used oil samples in the most efficient and effective manner whilst maintaining required HSSE standards and record test data to ease future reference.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, test and report results for all used oil samples in accordance with the standards and LQS procedures whilst strictly observing the set HSSE standards.
  • Ensure equipment integrity by Performing Statistical quality control on test methods using secondary reference material.
  • Ensure all test results are captured real time and accurately according to the standards requirements.
  • Ensure proper housekeeping is always maintained in the laboratory.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment in good working condition.
  • Timely reporting of all equipment breakdown/downtime.
  • Actively participate in all Quality Assurance activities to drive a positive culture towards quality.
  • Prepare depleted reagents and chemicals for Laboratory use and optimize the use of laboratory consumables to establish re-order levels.
  • Comply to HSSE visible management commitment by involvement in structured safety walk and talk and reporting of potential incidents.
  • Participate/drive HSSE grassroots meetings, toolbox meetings.

Key Challenges:

  • Ensuring results are released within set timelines.
  • Ensuring strict adherence to applicable test method requirements in performing Laboratory analysis.
  • Maintaining a high level of good laboratory practice & strictly adhering to the company HSSE policy and guidelines.
  • Keeping up to date with the latest testing procedures and ensuring no downtime due to equipment breakdowns.                              

Qualifications

Job Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Sound Chemical analysis background with bachelor’s degree in chemistry/biology/chemical engineering or related fields.
  • Working experience in an ISO 17025 certified petroleum Laboratory.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working in a laboratory environment, preferably with used lubricants testing, or related fields using ICP OES, Infra-red Spectroscopy, Coulometric and Potentiometric analysis, Kinematic and Dynamic Viscosity.
  • Proficient in using laboratory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory equipment, testing procedures, and safety protocols.
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations and safety standards for laboratory operations.
  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
