Oncology Nurse Job Oasis Healthcare

Overall Responsibility

• The Oncology Nurse will provide specialized nursing care to patients undergoing cancer diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up. This will include chemotherapy administration, symptoms management, emotional support and ensuring continuity of care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and other cancer treatments as prescribed.
• Monitor patients for adverse reactions during and after treatment, taking prompt action as necessary.
• Perform patient assessments and document vital signs, symptoms, and progress accurately.
• Assist in managing side effects of cancer treatments.
• Educate patients and families about treatment plans, medications, nutrition, and self-care.
• Offer psychological support and refer patients for counseling to help patients cope with diagnosis and treatment.
• Collaborate with oncologists, pharmacists, laboratory staff, and other team members in treatment planning.
• Schedule and follow up on diagnostic tests, treatment appointments, and referrals.
• Maintain accurate patient records and communicate changes to the medical team.
• Observe and enforce infection prevention and control protocols.

Qualifications 

• Diploma or Degree in Nursing from a recognized institution.
• Higher Diploma in Oncology Nursing
• Valid nursing practice license from the Nursing Council of Kenya 
• Minimum of two years’ experience in a busy clinical setting; experience in an oncology unit is an added advantage.
• Training in chemotherapy administration and handling hazardous drugs is an asset.
