Job Overview
As a Resident Dentist stationed at Equity Afya’s Kitale facility, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive dental care services to patients. The role demands a combination of clinical expertise, patient-centered care, and adherence to the highest standards of dental practice.
The Resident Dentist will be a key part of the facility’s clinical team, working closely with other healthcare providers to ensure a holistic approach to oral and general health. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed patient examinations and diagnostics including radiographic imaging where necessary.
- Provide treatment for dental diseases, injuries, and malformations of teeth and gums.
- Perform preventive and restorative dental procedures including fillings, root canals, and crowns.
- Conduct simple and surgical tooth extractions.
- Develop customized treatment plans based on individual patient needs.
- Advise patients on oral health maintenance, hygiene techniques, and disease prevention.
- Prescribe medications such as antibiotics and analgesics as required.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and treatment documentation.
- Work collaboratively with dental assistants and support staff to deliver efficient and empathetic care.
- Maintain a clean and safe clinical environment, complying with infection prevention and control protocols.
- Participate in community outreach and education programs related to oral health.
- Continuously stay updated on advancements in dentistry through ongoing professional development.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Dental Surgery (BDS) from a recognized institution.
- Registration and a valid practicing license from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
- At least one (1) year of post-internship clinical experience.
- Proficient in using computer applications relevant to dental practice.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a clinical team.
