Samburu Girls Foundation (SGF) is dedicated to improving the well-being of children, adolescent girls, and young women in Samburu County and its surrounding region of Kenya through education, health, and social support.

Job Summary

The Nurse will be responsible for ensuring the medical and emotional wellness of program participants. The role combines clinical support, psychosocial care, and health education with a focus on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR). The nurse will provide both preventive and responsive services, promote healthy practices, and create a safe, supportive environment that enables adolescent girls and young women to thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide first aid, primary medical support, and referrals where advanced care is required for program participants.
  • Maintain accurate medical records of the participants, ensuring confidentiality and data protection.
  • Monitor participants’ health status and provide timely medical interventions.
  • Ensure medical supplies, equipment, and first-aid kits are well-stocked and maintained.
  • Provide one-on-one and group psychosocial support to participants.
  • Identify cases requiring specialized psychological interventions and refer to appropriate services.
  • Advocate for participant wellness within program planning and decision-making.
  • Support integration of health and wellness into SGF’s broader programming.
  • Contribute to monitoring and reporting on health and wellness indicators.
  • Document case studies, lessons learned, and success stories for program learning and visibility.
  • Participate in program planning, reviews, and events, providing health-related expertise.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor in support of wellness objectives.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in nursing or Community Health Nursing from a recognized institution.
  • Valid license from the Nursing Council of Kenya (or relevant body).
  • At least 2–3 years’ experience in clinical care, public health, or SRHR programming.
  • Training and experience in psychosocial support and counseling preferred.
  • Strong understanding of adolescent health and SRHR issues.
  • Experience working with young people in community or program settings is an added advantage.
