St. Crispin Afya Hospital is a licensed Level 3B private health facility in Kajiado committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. As we gear up for our Level 4 transition, we are looking to fill the following position: Community Oral Health Officer (COHO)

The Community Oral Health Officer (COHO) will be responsible for promoting oral health, preventing oral diseases, and providing essential dental care services to patients at St. Crispin Afya Hospital. The officer will also participate in community outreach programs, patient education, and contribute to the hospital’s preventive and curative oral health services.

  • Conduct oral health assessments, diagnosis, and treatment of common dental and oral conditions.
  • Perform preventive and curative dental procedures such as scaling, fillings, extractions, and simple restorations.
  • Provide oral health education and promote preventive practices to patients and the community.
  • Participate in school and community oral health outreach programs.
  • Screen, identify, and refer patients requiring advanced dental or surgical interventions to dentists or specialists.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in line with Ministry of Health (MoH) and hospital policies.
  • Assist in planning and implementing oral health awareness campaigns and preventive care initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control standards in dental practice.
  • Participate in hospital quality improvement and health promotion activities.
  • Supervise and guide support staff in the dental unit.
  • Diploma in Community Oral Health from a recognized institution.
  • Registered and licensed by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
  • 1–3 years of clinical experience in oral health practice (post-internship).
  • Strong clinical, diagnostic, and decision-making skills in dentistry.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills with a community-oriented approach.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a healthcare team.
  • Commitment to patient care, confidentiality, and continuous professional growth.

Work Conditions

  • Based at St. Crispin Afya Hospital (Dental/Oral Health Unit).
  • May involve community outreach programs, school dental health campaigns, and mobile dental clinics.
  • May require occasional weekend or after-hours activities during outreach events.
