Position Overview

We are seeking a Head of Operations to lead and coordinate our organization’s operational activities across multiple departments. This role is central to ensuring effective planning, performance monitoring, coordination, follow-up, and accountability across all units, including field-based teams.
The ideal candidate will combine strong management experience with excellent digital skills, clear communication, and the ability to operate in a dynamic, community-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and coordinate the work of multiple departments and field teams
• Monitor performance, ensure follow-up on objectives, and support continuous improvement
• Plan and structure operational activities, timelines, and reporting processes
• Supervise team leaders and staff, ensuring clarity of roles and accountability
• Use digital tools to manage data, update systems, and prepare accurate reports
• Ensure smooth coordination between office-based and field-based activities
• Represent the organisation professionally when addressing teams, partners, and community members
• Contribute to problem-solving and operational decision-making in a fast-changing field context

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of proven management experience, ideally in operations or multi-team environments
• Engineering background (any discipline) is a strong advantage
• Experience working with field teams or community-based programmes
• Availability to work closely with field teams and visit project sites as needed
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under field-based constraints
• Strong working knowledge of Google Workspace (Google Docs, Google Sheets)
• Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, including data management and reporting
• Ability to maintain structured data systems and produce clear, accurate reports
• High competence in computer and digital tools
• Comfortable with planning, monitoring, and reporting in resource-constrained environments
• Strong leadership, organisational, and problem-solving skills
• High level of integrity, reliability, and accountability
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Willingness and ability to live and work in Busia County
