Maintenance Technician Job Aggregates Africa

JOB LOCATION: KITENGELA

Job description: Will be responsible for ensuring maximum uptime of manufacturing equipment, managing the maintenance team, and overseeing the repair of heavy machinery, batch plants, cranes, and production forms. Optimizing production efficiency and adhering to safety standards in a high-intensity, industrial environment. 

Core Responsibilities

  • Preventive & Corrective Maintenance: Develop, implement, and monitor preventative maintenance (PM) schedules for all production equipment, including concrete mixers, batch plants, conveyors, hydraulic systems, and heavy-duty machinery.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and mentor maintenance technicians; establish priorities and assign daily tasks to minimize downtime.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure all maintenance activities comply with OSHA, environmental, and company safety regulations.
  • Inventory & Budgeting: Manage spare parts inventory, tools, and equipment. Prepare and manage the maintenance department budget, identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Contractor Management: Supervise external contractors for specialized maintenance tasks, such as structural repairs or major machine overhauls.
  • Troubleshooting: Assist in diagnosing complex mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical failures in plant equipment.
  • Reporting: Maintain detailed records of maintenance work and submit reports on equipment performance and downtime to management. 

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Experience: 5 years of experience in maintenance management, ideally in a precast concrete, ready-mix, or heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Leadership: Ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team of technicians.
