Reporting to the School Doctor, the School nurse will use his/her expertise to identify health needs early, determining risk and protective factors, and providing early intervention to prevent issues escalating.

Duties and responsibilities of the School Nurse include:

  • Provide direct daily medical and first aid emergency care to pupils and the school community as needed
  • Provide Health and Safety assessments to maintain a safe environment for pupils
  • Recommend medical protocols where needed
  • Identify and provide support to pupils with known chronic illnesses and special health needs
  • Document all health concerns and provide reports and recommendations to the School Doctor
  • Respond proactively to feedback given by pupils, parents, and staff
  • Appropriate communication with parents and teachers

Qualifications & Professional Experience

  • Registered Nurse with a valid registration certificate and practice licence from Nursing Council of Kenya
  • Minimum Diploma in nursing
  • At least 3 years in active nursing practice
  • Experience of working with young children
