Trade & Export Promotion Consultant Job IRES

Overview

We are seeking a Senior expert in international trade in services and export promotion, with strong experience supporting institutions, translating trade frameworks into practice, and delivering capacity-building interventions.

Qualifications & Experience

• Master’s degree (or higher) in International Trade, Economics, Business,
• Public Policy, or related field.
• Relevant certifications (trade facilitation, export promotion, M&E, digital trade, or training/ ToT) are an advantage.

Experience

• 10+ years in trade in services, export promotion, or trade policy.
• Experience working with trade support institutions, governments, or regional bodies.
• Strong familiarity with EAC, AfCFTA, and WTO frameworks.
• Proven experience developing export strategies, tools, and institutional systems.

Core Competencies

• Trade in Services: Strong knowledge of GATS, sector dynamics, and regulatory environments.
• Export Promotion: Experience with export readiness tools, market intelligence, and SME support.
• Trade  Frameworks:  Ability  to  operationalize  AfCFTA,  EAC,  and  WTO agreements.
• Institutional Strengthening: Experience in improving coordination, systems, and service delivery.

Training & Facilitation

• Proven Expertise in adult learning and workshop facilitation.
• Ability to design practical, tools-based training and materials.

Additional Skills

• Analytical and data interpretation skills.
• Knowledge of digital trade tools.
• Experience in monitoring, evaluation, and results measurement.

Other Requirements

• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Experience working in multi-country / multicultural environments.
• Fluency in English (French is an added advantage).
