Looking for a communication job in Kenya? ARC Ride is recruiting a Head of Communication. Based in Nairobi, the role requires senior expertise in corporate messaging, media strategy, and public relations.
Reports To: Chief Executive Officer
About the Role
The Head of Communications, Brand & Stakeholder Engagement will lead ARC Ride’s
corporate communications, brand strategy, public affairs, stakeholder engagement, and thought leadership agenda across Africa.
The role is responsible for positioning ARC Ride as the leading battery-as-a-service and electric mobility company on the continent while strengthening relationships with investors, regulators, customers, development partners, media, and strategic stakeholders.
This is a leadership role requiring a strategic thinker who can operate at a boardroom level while also driving high-quality execution across communications, content, public relations, events, and brand management.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Communications & Corporate Affairs
- Develop and execute ARC Ride’s integrated communications strategy.
- Build ARC Ride’s reputation across African markets.
- Lead external communications relating to company growth, fundraising, partnerships, expansion and major announcements.
- Develop executive communications for the CEO and leadership team.
- Manage crisis communications and reputation management activities.
- Establish ARC Ride as a leading voice in electric mobility, clean energy, and sustainable transportation.
Brand Strategy & Positioning
- Owns ARC Ride’s brand architecture, positioning, and messaging.
- Ensure consistency of brand identity across all markets and business units.
- Develop and maintain brand guidelines.
- Translate business milestones and operational achievements into compelling stories.
- Drive customer trust and brand awareness across all operating countries.
Stakeholder Engagement & Public Affairs
- Build strategic relationships with media organizations, strategic partners, industry associations, and government agencies
- Media organizations
- Support policy engagement and regulatory positioning.
- Develop communications strategies that support favourable operating environments.
- Monitor external stakeholder sentiment and emerging risks.
Investor & Executive Communications
- Support fundraising activities through high-quality investor communications.
- Develop investor presentations, reports, and briefing materials.
- Support leadership participation at conferences, forums, and industry events.
- Coordinate executive thought leadership opportunities.
Media Relations & Public Relations
- Develop and manage media engagement strategy.
- Build relationships with regional and international media.
- Prepare press releases, media kits, and executive briefings.
- Manage external PR agencies where required.
- Increase positive media coverage and industry visibility.
Customer & Market Communications
- Develop communication campaigns that drive customer acquisition and retention.
- Translate complex technical products into simple customer-facing messages.
- Support launch communications for new products, services, and markets.
- Ensure consistency across rider communications, training materials, and customer education initiatives.
Team Leadership
- Lead and develop the communications and creative team.
- Establish communications processes, standards, and reporting structures.
- Manage external agencies, consultants, and creative partners.
- Build a high-performance communications function capable of supporting multi-country operations.
Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, International Relations, Business, or related field.
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in communications, corporate affairs, public relations, stakeholder engagement, or brand leadership.
- Minimum 3 years leading teams.
- Demonstrated experience managing executive communications and external stakeholders.
- Experience working across multiple African markets.
- Experience in mobility, clean energy, technology, infrastructure, or high-growth startups.
- Experience supporting fundraising and investor relations.
- Existing media and stakeholder networks across Africa.
- Experience engaging with government and regulatory stakeholders.
