Chairman Job at Makueni County

The Chairman will provide leadership to the Board and ensure its effectiveness in all aspects of its governance role of providing oversight on the affairs of the Authority.

Duties for the Chairman Job

The specific duties and responsibilities shall include:

  • Chairing the Board of the Makueni Fruit Development and Marketing Authority;
  • Provision of policy direction relating to the Authority mandates and its objects;
  • Setting the Board agenda, with the MD;
  • Leading the board in discussing and approving the strategic plan and annual budgets of the Authority presented by the management;
  • Putting in place and maintaining an effective governance structure including Board Committees to manage the affairs of the Authority in alignment to legal requirements;
  • Ensuring that the Authority operates to the highest standards of corporate governance and executes its mandate in a timely manner;
  • Developing the Board’s key relationships with County Government and other stakeholders as well;
  • Communicating the role of the Authority;
  • Ensuring the Authority effectively fulfills its statutory objectives, general functions and duties and appropriately exercises its legal power;
  • Ensuring decisions of the Authority are implemented appropriately;
  • Fulfilling duties of a representative and a spokesperson of the Board;
  • Performing any other duties as may be assigned by the Executive Committee Member, Governor or any other written law;

Chairman Job Requirements

For appointment as the Chairman of the Authority, the person should:

  • Be a Kenyan citizen;
  • Be a holder of at least a first degree from a university recognized in Kenya;
  • Possession of a master’s degree will be an added advantage;
  • Have relevant knowledge and post Qualification experience of not less than ten (10) years in the Public Service or Private Sector, five of which should be in a Senior and governance position;
  • Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010 on Leadership and integrity;

  • The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).
