Purpose: To deliver high-quality instruction, engaging in innovative research, and contributing to the development of the Community Health program.

Duties and Responsibilities: –

  • Teach and asses courses in Public Health to both undergraduate and post graduate students;
  • Supervise postgraduate students;
  • Initiate, promote and participate in research projects;
  • Attend and actively participate in seminars, workshops and conference in health sciences;
  • Lead on the review and development of new curricula to promote growth of the department;
  • Attend and actively participate in departmental and School Board meetings and other activities;
  • Conduct community service and initiate linkages;
  • Engage with the industry for practicum and research projects to ensure holistic development of our students;
  • Any other official duties that may be assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Requirements for appointment: –

  • An earned PhD in Public Health/Community Health/Epidemiology/Nutrition or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant field from an accredited and recognized university;
  • Hold Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Public Health/Community Health/Epidemiology or equivalent degrees’ qualifications in the relevant field from an accredited and recognized university. OR 
  • MMED (Family Medicine) and MBChB degrees from an accredited and recognized university;
  • At least three (3) years teaching experience at University level or in research or in industry; 
  • Current registration by relevant professional statutory bodies and membership in a professional association will be an added advantage; 
  • Proficiency in computer applications.

Job Specification: – 

  • This will be the entry grade for PhD degree holders into this cadre.

Candidates interested in the position are expected to fulfil requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya. In this regard, they must submit copies of the following: –

  • Certificate of good conduct from Director, Criminal Investigations (DCI)
  • Clearance certificate from Higher Educations Loans Board (HELB)
  • Tax Compliance certificate from Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)
  • Clearance from the Ethics & Anti – Corruption Commission (EACC)

Employment for the above mentioned positions will be on permanent and pensionable terms except for Tutorial Fellow. The appointed candidates will be remunerated as per the Inter Public University Councils Consultative Forum(IPUCCF) and CBA 2017-2021 approved salary rates.
