My Accounts Assistant Job with M-KOPA, Salary, Experience & Advice To Job Seekers

Career Point Kenya recently caught up with a former Accounts Assistant who was willing to share his experience at the esteemed company.

How did you land the accounts assistant job at M-Kopa?
I applied for an internship with the company from knowledge of a sibling working at the company. I was called for an interview and after a month, I joined the company.

How was the interview process?
The process was quite tough. It was a panel of four company officers i.e. two accountants, Human Resource manager and one director.

It entailed on how good I was at Excel and SAGE accounting software. I managed to pass both texts and the fundamentals of double entry system as well as presentation skills.

Tell us about the working environment at M-Kopa?
It`s a conducive environment and the management is quite fine. The company has quality conditions with the employees which play in the favour of their needs.

What is the salary range for an accounts assistant?
My salary range was between 25,000 & 27,000 K’shs

Why did you leave M-Kopa?
I left M-Kopa in November 2013 after my internship contract was exhausted since I was standing in for an employee on maternity leave.

Did the short stint at M-Kopa open any career doors after your departure?
Working with M-Kopa opened a door to my career at Gigwapi Limited for a part time book keeping and financial reporting in vacancy

What did you like the most about M-KOPA?
I loved the experience, the exposure to the industry and the quality treatment from the organization

I also liked the fact that my employer gave me the freedom to act with minimal supervision hence I got the opportunity to exploit my career in the industry and learnt to be independent.

What don’t people know about M-Kopa as an employer?
It’s the fact that M-Kopa is a great employer offering quality benefits to its employees

Would you encourage other job seekers to seek employment with M-kopa?
Yes, I would encourage others to join the firm. It’s a great joint for job seekers with the freedom to act as well as great employment benefits

What’s your advice to the senior management at M-Kopa?
The management is on point on control with great incentives to the subordinates’ staff and should keep it up.
