Tellers Job Responsibilities

• Receive and process customer deposits and withdrawals
• Identify customers for encashment through personal identification number, photo identification, or signature comparison
• Record all transactions performed
• Cash payroll checks, exchange foreign currency, receive loan payments
• Validate deposit slips and stamp them to indicate date and time of validation
• Or work with machines that automatically enter deposits and withdrawals into the bank’s ledger or records
• Validate cheques before cashing them
• Take responsibility for cash in cash drawer
• Maintain adequate cash and/or cash drawer limits as required by Bank policy
• Issue cashier’s cheques, money orders and bank cheques
• Take physical count of cash to establish agreement with the settlement sheet
• Balance the totals for all cash received and paid out to establish matching before closing for the day
• Keep records of the cash and checks that come in and out of the bank’s vault over the course of a day
• Perform routine tasks quickly and accurately
• Responsible for cross selling bank products
• Perform any other function as may be directed by management from time to time

Qualifications for the Tellers Job

• A minimum grade of C (plain) in KCSE
• A undergraduate Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Business related courses from a recognized institution.
• At least 2 years’ experience in the financial sector will be an added advantage
• Proficiency in computers
• Ability to analyze and interpret financial statements
• Good interpersonal & communication skills with excellent customer service
• A team player with the drive to improve performance
• Persuasive with strong recognition skills
• Good Sales and Marketing Skills
• Self-driven and possess the ability to work with minimum
• Aged between 22 and 30 years
