Our Client is an indigenous manufacturing company specializing in the production of high quality insulation products for the construction industry in Kenya.

In order to provide effective operational leadership and management for the company, our client is looking to hire a General Manager who will have executive authority of the company and lead a team of managers in various departments.

Roles for the General Manager Job

  • Formulation and Execution of Strategic plans and to ensure that all financial and operational objectives are met or exceeded.
  • Provide strategic advice to the board and Chairman so that they have accurate view of both the market and the company’s future
  • Ensure company policies and legal guidelines are communicated from top down and that they are followed at all times
  • Institute and manage the budgeting process, align to company strategic plans and ensure that set targets are achieved or exceeded
  • Motivate, Challenge and develop key leaders to drive a strong performance culture as well as a culture of process improvement. Delegate responsibilities and properly supervise the work of your management team
  • Develop and implement improved processes and procedures to promote increased efficiency, productivity and profitability in the company
  • Play the role of public relations representative of the company in ways that strengthen its profile
  • Analyse problematic situations and occurrences and provide solutions to ensure company survival and growth
  • Implement strong corporate governance and enterprise Risk Management Culture
  • Develop strong performance management culture with measurable metrics and align to employees’ goals
  • Develop a strong sales team to position the company in top market leadership
  • Develop a customer centric culture throughout the company
  • Provide weekly, monthly & annual operational performance reports
  • Develop and implement capital spending plans that meet the going needs of the business for facilities, equipment and productivity improvement
  • Maintain safety and health standards in line with the relevant law

General Manager Job Requirements

  • Proven experience as senior manager or CEO of medium size companies
  • Demonstrable experience in developing strategic and business plans
  • Thorough knowledge of market changes and forces that influence the company
  • Demonstrate strong skills in sales and marketing
  • Demonstrate strong understanding of corporate finance and measure of performance
  • Demonstrate familiarity with corporate law and management best practice
  • Demonstrate excellent organization skills and leadership
  • Demonstrate excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Demonstrate outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment would be added advantage
  • Minimum undergraduate degree level of education. Post graduate degree would be added advantage
