Our client is looking for a Team Leader and key team player with a proven record of executing initiatives and self-driven in channel handling to meet the company’s set objectives.

General Trade Manager Job Responsibilities 

  • Achieving business plan targets whilst maximizing profits at the desired margin.
  • Initiate and develop strong business relationships with key decision-makers among the all trade accounts and provide high standard of customer service continually.
  • Evaluate key opportunities to develop account objectives to achieve sales, margins, and market penetration.
  • Recommend and implement strategies and tactics that contribute to the development and successful execution of Trade Channel adoption of Client products
  • Coordinate with marketing team to align marketing strategies relative to trade customer opportunities
  • Ensuring payment terms are adhered to by trade customers and follow up of payments.
  • Lead training, development, coaching for the sales team.
  • Directly manage the Trade Channels to resolve any issue in the market. This may include pricing, discounts, return goods, quality, delivery, credit note, and product recalls among others
  • Conduct business reviews with trade/key account customers to align business objectives. Also create business proposals for new and existing opportunities.
  • Distributor management; range selling, volume movement, territory coverage, market penetration, payments and support system.
  • Responsible for delivery of Kenya General Trade Volume and Execution
  • Channel development – Drive picture of success /Execution standards , opportunities and
  • Execute on trade business plans
  • Enables current and future sales performance
  • Provide input into demand planning processes
  • Fixing / optimizing systems and resources that drive customer service delivery
  • Effective supervision, management and communication to the sales team; coordinate with the sales team to support sales execution.
  • Play fundamental role in identification of new markets; take responsibility for the effective on-boarding of new trade customers; identity new potential clients to increase distribution penetration.
  • Initiate and develop JBPs with Key Accounts/GT customers and gain long term service commitments from clients.
  • Produce Weekly and monthly reports; give up-to-date information relating to customer activities in order to keep track of their performance.
  • Leading the sales and marketing teams to increase overall revenue, GP and debtor days’ performance for the modern and traditional trade channels.
  • Managing teamwork between sales, marketing, production, dispatch and transport departments to ensure end goals are met.
  • Driving overall company targets and visions.

Qualifications for the General Trade Manager Job

  • Business Degree in in Commerce, Economics, Business Management or equivalent from a recognized University
  • Professional experience in sales & marketing preferred
  • At least 5 years working experience in Sales in a Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) Industry (worked throughout the country or at least the major towns being Nairobi, Coast, Nakuru and Kisumu.)
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills,Ability to work under pressure, result oriented, problem solving skills and team player
