By Michelle Wanjiku
It is advisable to send a thank you note to the interviewer after your interview so that they can remember you and consider you even further. Write the email after a few days.
Sending a thank you note is a great way to improve your chances of getting the job and even if you don’t end up being hired, it helps in keeping you in the mind of the employer in case a job opening comes up that you qualify for.
When To Send A thank you note
Generally the thank you note or email should be sent the same day after your interview or early the next day. You should not wait too long. Basically, send the note within 24 hours of the interview.
It’s easiest to write a thank you note when the details of an interview are fresh in your head.
Another reason not to delay in sending the note is the organization could have already picked someone for the job thus denying you the chance to make a last positive impression.

Tips for Writing a Thank You Note

1. Include anything you forgot
A great tip when writing a thank you note is to highlight some of the key areas you had discussed in the interview and convince the employer that you are the best candidate for reasons ABCD.
You can also use this opportunity to mention something you may have forgotten to say in the interview that could boost your chances of getting the job.
2. Express your enthusiasm
You should also mention how you see yourself to be the best fit for the job and thank the recruiter for the opportunity to interview with them.
3. Proof Read
You don’t want to send a thank you note that ends up ruining your chances of getting the job. This means that you should thoroughly go through your email before sending it to ensure that it is free of any grammatical errors and spelling mistakes.
4. Keep it short
Remember that this is not an application which means your email does not have to belong. Don’t start listing everything on your CV all over again. The shorter it is the better. Just ensure you convey your thanks.
